buffets.eth

Hi, I'm Eugene from Singapore and this is my decentralised website hosted on IPFS.

Here are some key facts about me:

🍣 I often go by buffets (or a variation of this word) online. This is because I love the idea of abundance inherent in an all-you-can-eat meal, and I think it's an apt metaphor for the state of the internet today.

💼 I'm still figuring out my professional calling, but I have a background in public policy and communications.

💻 I have been crypto-pilled since 2021. While I do not work for any crypto projects or companies, I remain a curious observer of the space and am optimistic about crypto's potential to engender a better Internet—by underpinning a new paradigm of financial and cultural applications centred on openness, ownership and composability.

📝 I enjoy writing as I find that it is the best way for me to sharpen my thinking. I have a blog, The Digital Buffets, where I occasionally write longform pieces about issues at the intersection of digital technology and media, with an emphasis on crypto and AI.

🎨 I also enjoy collecting digital art tokenised on the blockchain. To me, good art is mental sorcery—such works pry apart our existing preconceptions and force us to see the world in novel, expansive ways. Through collecting artworks that use the blockchain and/or AI as their primary art materials, I have certainly learnt to engage with these technologies more critically. You can view the highlights from my personal digital art collection here.

🌎 I continue to have a profound appreciation for our physical world, cultivated through reading widely and travelling. Most recently, I spent a year travelling with my wife in Latin America—we backpacked through Mexico, and down the Andes from Colombia to Argentina, with a side trip to Antarctica.
